American Standard Version
"And after a little while they that stood by came and said to Peter, Of a truth thou also art one of them; for thy speech maketh thee known. "
— Matthew 26:73, American Standard Version
“And after a while came unto him they that stood by, and said to Peter, Surely thou also art one of them; for thy speech bewrayeth thee.”
“After a little while those who stood by came and said to Peter, "Surely you are also one of them, for your speech makes you known."”
“After a little while, those standing there came up to Peter and said,“You really are one of them too– even your accent gives you away!””
“And after a little while, they came that stood by and said to Peter: Surely thou also art one of them. For even thy speech doth discover thee.”
“And after a little time those who were near came and said to Peter, Truly you are one of them; because your talk is witness against you.”
“And after a while came unto him they that stood by, and said to Peter, Surely thou also art one of them; for thy speech bewrayeth thee.”
But he denied before them all, saying, I know not what thou sayest.
And when he was gone out into the porch, another maid saw him, and saith unto them that were there, This man also was with Jesus of Nazareth.
And again he denied with an oath, I know not the man.
And after a little while they that stood by came and said to Peter, Of a truth thou also art one of them; for thy speech maketh thee known.
Then began he to curse and to swear, I know not the man. And straightway the cock crew.
And Peter remembered the word which Jesus had said, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. And he went out, and wept bitterly.
