"How could you not understand that I was not speaking to you about bread? But beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees!”"
— Matthew 16:11, NET Bible
“How is it that ye do not understand that I spake it not to you concerning bread, that ye should beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees?”
“How is it that ye do not perceive that I spake not to you concerning bread? But beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees. ”
“How is it that you don't perceive that I didn't speak to you concerning bread? But beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees."”
“Why do you not understand that it was not concerning bread I said to you: Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees?”
“How is it that you do not see that I was not talking to you about bread, but about keeping away from the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees?”
“How is it that ye do not understand that I spake it not to you concerning bread, that ye should beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees?”
When Jesus learned of this, he said,“You who have such little faith! Why are you arguing among yourselves about having no bread?
Do you still not understand? Don’t you remember the five loaves for the five thousand, and how many baskets you took up?
Or the seven loaves for the four thousand and how many baskets you took up?
How could you not understand that I was not speaking to you about bread? But beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees!”
Then they understood that he had not told them to be on guard against the yeast in bread, but against the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.
Peter’s Confession When Jesus came to the area of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples,“Who do people say that the Son of Man is?”
They answered,“Some say John the Baptist, others Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”
