American King James Version
"Yet has he not root in himself, but endures for a while: for when tribulation or persecution rises because of the word, by and by he is offended. "
— Matthew 13:21, American King James Version
“Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.”
“yet hath he not root in himself, but endureth for a while; and when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, straightway he stumbleth. ”
“yet he has no root in himself, but endures for a while. When oppression or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he stumbles.”
“But he has no root in himself and does not endure; when trouble or persecution comes because of the word, immediately he falls away.”
“Yet hath he not root in himself, but is only for a time: and when there ariseth tribulation and persecution because of the word, he is presently scandalized.”
“But having no root in himself, he goes on for a time; and when trouble comes or pain, because of the word, he quickly becomes full of doubts.”
“Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.”
Hear you therefore the parable of the sower.
When any one hears the word of the kingdom, and understands it not, then comes the wicked one, and catches away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side.
But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that hears the word, and immediately with joy receives it;
Yet has he not root in himself, but endures for a while: for when tribulation or persecution rises because of the word, by and by he is offended.
He also that received seed among the thorns is he that hears the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful.
But he that received seed into the good ground is he that hears the word, and understands it; which also bears fruit, and brings forth, some an hundred times, some sixty, some thirty. ¶
Another parable put he forth to them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened to a man which sowed good seed in his field:
