King James Version
Shall it be told him that I speak? if a man speak, surely he shall be swallowed up.
And now men see not the bright light which is in the clouds: but the wind passeth, and cleanseth them.
Fair weather cometh out of the north: with God is terrible majesty.
Touching the Almighty, we cannot find him out: he is excellent in power, and in judgment, and in plenty of justice: he will not afflict.
Men do therefore fear him: he respecteth not any that are wise of heart.
— Job 37:20-1953, King James Version
“Shall it be told him that I would speak? Or should a man wish that he were swallowed up? And now men see not the light which is bright in the skies; But the wind passeth, and cleareth them. Out of the north cometh golden splendor: God hath upon him terrible majesty. Touchingthe Almighty, we cannot find him out: He is excellent in power; And in justice and plenteous righteousness he will not afflict. Men do therefore fear him: He regardeth not any that are wise of heart. ”
“Shall it be told him that I would speak? Or should a man wish that he were swallowed up? Now men don't see the light which is bright in the skies, but the wind passes, and clears them. Out of the north comes golden splendor. With God is awesome majesty. We can't reach the Almighty. He is exalted in power. In justice and great righteousness, he will not oppress. Therefore men revere him. He doesn't regard any who are wise of heart."”
“Should he be informed that I want to speak? If a man speaks, surely he will be swallowed up! But now, the sun cannot be looked at– it is bright in the skies– after a wind passed and swept the clouds away. From the north he comes in golden splendor; around God is awesome majesty. As for the Almighty, we cannot attain to him! He is great in power, but justice and abundant righteousness he does not oppress. Therefore people fear him, for he does not regard all the wise in heart.””
“Who shall tell him the things I speak? even if a man shall speak, he shall be swallowed up. But now they see not the light: the air on a sudden shall be thickened into clouds, and the wind shall pass and drive them away. Cold cometh out of the north, and to God praise with fear. We cannot find him worthily: he is great in strength, and in judgment, and in justice, and he is ineffable. Therefore men shall fear him, and all that seem to themselves to be wise, shall not dare to behold him. ”
“How may he have knowledge of my desire for talk with him? or did any man ever say, May destruction come on me? And now the light is not seen, for it is dark because of the clouds; but a wind comes, clearing them away. A bright light comes out of the north; God's glory is greatly to be feared. There is no searching out of the Ruler of all: his strength and his judging are great; he is full of righteousness, doing no wrong. For this cause men go in fear of him; he has no respect for any who are wise in heart.”
“Shall it be told him that I speak? if a man speak, surely he shall be swallowed up. ”
How thy garments are warm, when he quieteth the earth by the south wind?
Hast thou with him spread out the sky, which is strong, and as a molten looking glass?
Teach us what we shall say unto him; for we cannot order our speech by reason of darkness.
