"(I was standing between the LORD and you at that time to reveal the LORD’s message to you, because you were afraid of the fire and would not go up the mountain.) He said:"

“(I stood between the Lord and you at that time, to shew you the word of the Lord: for ye were afraid by reason of the fire, and went not up into the mount;) saying,”
“(I stood between Jehovah and you at that time, to show you the word of Jehovah: for ye were afraid because of the fire, and went not up into the mount), saying, ”
“(I stood between Yahweh and you at that time, to show you the word of Yahweh: for you were afraid because of the fire, and didn't go up onto the mountain;) saying,”
“I was the mediator and stood between the Lord and you at that time, to shew you his words, for you feared the fire, and went not up into the mountain, and he said:”
“(I was between the Lord and you at that time, to make clear to you the word of the Lord: because, through fear of the fire, you did not go up the mountain;) saying,”

The LORD our God made a covenant with us at Horeb.
He did not make this covenant with our ancestors but with us, we who are here today, all of us living now.
The LORD spoke face to face with you at the mountain, from the middle of the fire.
(I was standing between the LORD and you at that time to reveal the LORD’s message to you, because you were afraid of the fire and would not go up the mountain.) He said:
The Ten Commandments“I am the LORD your God, he who brought you from the land of Egypt, from the place of slavery.
You must not have any other gods besides me.
You must not make for yourself an image of anything in heaven above, on earth below, or in the waters beneath.
