"your infants, your wives, and the resident foreigners living in your encampment, those who chop wood and those who carry water–"
— Deuteronomy 29:11, NET Bible
“Your little ones, your wives, and thy stranger that is in thy camp, from the hewer of thy wood unto the drawer of thy water:”
“your little ones, your wives, and thy sojourner that is in the midst of thy camps, from the hewer of thy wood unto the drawer of thy water; ”
“your little ones, your wives, and your foreigner who is in the midst of your camps, from the one who cuts your wood to the one who draws your water;”
“Your children and your wives, and the stranger that abideth with thee in the camp, besides the hewers of wood, and them that bring water:”
“And your little ones, your wives, and the men of other lands who are with you in your tents, down to the wood-cutter and the servant who gets water for you:”
“Your little ones, your wives, and thy stranger that is in thy camp, from the hewer of thy wood unto the drawer of thy water:”
Then we took their land and gave it as an inheritance to Reuben, Gad, and half the tribe of Manasseh.
The Present Covenant Setting“Therefore, keep the terms of this covenant and obey them so that you may be successful in everything you do.
You are standing today, all of you, before the LORD your God– the heads of your tribes, your elders, your officials, every Israelite man,
your infants, your wives, and the resident foreigners living in your encampment, those who chop wood and those who carry water–
so that you may enter by oath into the covenant the LORD your God is making with you today.
Today he will affirm that you are his people and that he is your God, just as he promised you and as he swore by oath to your ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
It is not with you alone that I am making this covenant by oath,
