"And so, to the Jews, I became like a Jew, so that I might gain the Jews. "
— 1 Corinthians 9:20, Catholic Public Domain Version
“And unto the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to them that are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law;”
“And to the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain Jews; to them that are under the law, as under the law, not being myself under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law; ”
“To the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain Jews; to those who are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain those who are under the law;”
“To the Jews I became like a Jew to gain the Jews. To those under the law I became like one under the law(though I myself am not under the law) to gain those under the law.”
“And I became to the Jews a Jew, that I might gain the Jews:”
“And to the Jews I was as a Jew, so that I might give the good news to them; to those under the law I was the same, not as being myself under the law, but so that I might give the good news to those under the law.”
“And unto the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to them that are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law;”
For if I do this willingly, I have a reward. But if I do this reluctantly, a dispensation is granted to me.
And what, then, would be my reward? So, when preaching the Gospel, I should give the Gospel without taking, so that I may not misuse my authority in the Gospel.
For when I was a free man to all, I made myself the servant of all, so that I might gain all the more.
And so, to the Jews, I became like a Jew, so that I might gain the Jews.
To those who are under the law, I became as if I were under the law, (though I was not under the law) so that I might gain those who were under the law. To those who were without the law, I became as if I were without the law, (though I was not without the law of God, being in the law of Christ) so that I might gain those who were without the law.
To the weak, I became weak, so that I might gain the weak. To all, I became all, so that I might save all.
And I do everything for the sake of the Gospel, so that I may become its partner.
