"For the creature was made subject to emptiness, not willingly, but for the sake of the One who made it subject, unto hope. "
— Romans 8:20, Catholic Public Domain Version
“For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope,”
“For the creation was subjected to vanity, not of its own will, but by reason of him who subjected it, in hope ”
“For the creation was subjected to vanity, not of its own will, but because of him who subjected it, in hope”
“For the creation was subjected to futility– not willingly but because of God who subjected it– in hope”
“For the creature was made subject to vanity: not willingly, but by reason of him that made it subject, in hope.”
“For every living thing was put under the power of change, not by its desire, but by him who made it so, in hope”
“For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope,”
But if we are sons, then we are also heirs: certainly heirs of God, but also co-heirs with Christ, yet in such a way that, if we suffer with him, we shall also be glorified with him.
For I consider that the sufferings of this time are not worthy to be compared with that future glory which shall be revealed in us.
For the anticipation of the creature anticipates the revelation of the sons of God.
For the creature was made subject to emptiness, not willingly, but for the sake of the One who made it subject, unto hope.
For the creature itself shall also be delivered from the servitude of corruption, into the liberty of the glory of the sons of God.
For we know that every creature groans inwardly, as if giving birth, even until now;
and not only these, but also ourselves, since we hold the first-fruits of the Spirit. For we also groan within ourselves, anticipating our adoption as the sons of God, and the redemption of our body.
