King James Version
So I gave them up unto their own hearts’ lust: and they walked in their own counsels.
Oh that my people had hearkened unto me, and Israel had walked in my ways!
I should soon have subdued their enemies, and turned my hand against their adversaries.
The haters of the Lord should have submitted themselves unto him: but their time should have endured for ever.
He should have fed them also with the finest of the wheat: and with honey out of the rock should I have satisfied thee.
— Psalms 81:12-1953, King James Version
“So I let them go after the stubbornness of their heart, That they might walk in their own counsels. Oh that my people would hearken unto me, That Israel would walk in my ways! I would soon subdue their enemies, And turn my hand against their adversaries. The haters of Jehovah should submit themselves unto him: But their time should endure for ever. He would feed them also with the finest of the wheat; And with honey out of the rock would I satisfy thee. ”
“So I let them go after the stubbornness of their hearts, that they might walk in their own counsels. Oh that my people would listen to me, that Israel would walk in my ways! I would soon subdue their enemies, and turn my hand against their adversaries. The haters of Yahweh would cringe before him, and their punishment would last forever. But he would have also fed them with the finest of the wheat. I will satisfy you with honey out of the rock." A Psalm by Asaph.”
“I gave them over to their stubborn desires; they did what seemed right to them. If only my people would obey me! If only Israel would keep my commands! Then I would quickly subdue their enemies, and attack their adversaries.” (May those who hate the LORD cower in fear before him! May they be permanently humiliated!) “I would feed Israel the best wheat, and would satisfy your appetite with honey from the rocky cliffs.””
“So I gave them up to the desires of their hearts; that they might go after their evil purposes. If only my people would give ear to me, walking in my ways! I would quickly overcome their haters: my hand would be turned against those who make war on them. The haters of the Lord would be broken, and their destruction would be eternal. I would give them the best grain for food; you would be full of honey from the rock.”
“So I gave them up unto their own hearts’ lust: and they walked in their own counsels. ”
There shall no strange god be in thee; neither shalt thou worship any strange god.
I am the Lord thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt: open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it.
But my people would not hearken to my voice; and Israel would none of me.
