"When I tried to make sense of this, it was troubling to me."
— Psalms 73:16, NET Bible
“When I thought to know this, it was too painful for me;”
“When I thought how I might know this, It was too painful for me; ”
“When I tried to understand this, it was too painful for me;”
“Thine is the day, and thine is the night: thou hast made the morning light and the sun.”
“When my thoughts were turned to see the reason of this, it was a weariness in my eyes;”
“When I thought to know this, it was too painful for me;”
I concluded,“Surely in vain I have kept my motives pure and maintained a pure lifestyle.
I suffer all day long, and am punished every morning.”
If I had publicized these thoughts, I would have betrayed your people.
When I tried to make sense of this, it was troubling to me.
Then I entered the precincts of God’s temple, and understood the destiny of the wicked.
Surely you put them in slippery places; you bring them down to ruin.
How desolate they become in a mere moment! Terrifying judgments make their demise complete!
