King James Version
Why leap ye, ye high hills? this is the hill which God desireth to dwell in; yea, the Lord will dwell in it for ever.
The chariots of God are twenty thousand, even thousands of angels: the Lord is among them, as in Sinai, in the holy place.
Thou hast ascended on high, thou hast led captivity captive: thou hast received gifts for men; yea, for the rebellious also, that the Lord God might dwell among them.
Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah.
He that is our God is the God of salvation; and unto God the Lord belong the issues from death.
But God shall wound the head of his enemies, and the hairy scalp of such an one as goeth on still in his trespasses.
The Lord said, I will bring again from Bashan, I will bring my people again from the depths of the sea:
That thy foot may be dipped in the blood of thine enemies, and the tongue of thy dogs in the same.
They have seen thy goings, O God; even the goings of my God, my King, in the sanctuary.
The singers went before, the players on instruments followed after; among them were the damsels playing with timbrels.
Bless ye God in the congregations, even the Lord, from the fountain of Israel.
There is little Benjamin with their ruler, the princes of Judah and their council, the princes of Zebulun, and the princes of Naphtali.
Thy God hath commanded thy strength: strengthen, O God, that which thou hast wrought for us.
Because of thy temple at Jerusalem shall kings bring presents unto thee.
Rebuke the company of spearmen, the multitude of the bulls, with the calves of the people, till every one submit himself with pieces of silver: scatter thou the people that delight in war.
Princes shall come out of Egypt; Ethiopia shall soon stretch out her hands unto God.
Sing unto God, ye kingdoms of the earth; O sing praises unto the Lord; Selah:
To him that rideth upon the heavens of heavens, which were of old; lo, he doth send out his voice, and that a mighty voice.
Ascribe ye strength unto God: his excellency is over Israel, and his strength is in the clouds.
O God, thou art terrible out of thy holy places: the God of Israel is he that giveth strength and power unto his people. Blessed be God.
— Psalms 68:16-1953, King James Version
“Why look ye askance, ye high mountains, At the mountain which God hath desired for his abode? Yea, Jehovah will dwell in it for ever. The chariots of God are twenty thousand, even thousands upon thousands: The Lord is among them, as in Sinai, in the sanctuary. Bless ye God in the congregations, Even the Lord, ye that are of the fountain of Israel. There is little Benjamin their ruler, The princes of Judah and their council, The princes of Zebulun, the princes of Naphtali. Thy God hath commanded thy strength: Strengthen, O God, that which thou hast wrought for us. Because of thy temple at Jerusalem Kings shall bring presents unto thee. Rebuke the wild beast of the reeds, The multitude of the bulls, with the calves of the peoples, Trampling under foot the pieces of silver: He hath scattered the peoples that delight in war. Princes shall come out of Egypt; Ethiopia shall haste to stretch out her hands unto God. Sing unto God, ye kingdoms of the earth; Oh sing praises unto the Lord; [Selah To him that rideth upon the heaven of heavens, which are of old; Lo, he uttereth his voice, a mighty voice. “Why do you look in envy, you rugged mountains, at the mountain where God chooses to reign? Yes, Yahweh will dwell there forever. The chariots of God are tens of thousands and thousands of thousands. The Lord is among them, from Sinai, into the sanctuary. You have ascended on high. You have led away captives. You have received gifts among men, yes, among the rebellious also, that Yah God might dwell there. Blessed be the Lord, who daily bears our burdens, even the God who is our salvation. Selah. God is to us a God of deliverance. To Yahweh, the Lord, belongs escape from death. But God will strike through the head of his enemies, the hairy scalp of such a one as still continues in his guiltiness. The Lord said, "I will bring you again from Bashan, I will bring you again from the depths of the sea; That you may crush them, dipping your foot in blood, that the tongues of your dogs may have their portion from your enemies." They have seen your processions, God, even the processions of my God, my King, into the sanctuary. The singers went before, the minstrels followed after, in the midst of the ladies playing with tambourines, "Bless God in the congregations, even the Lord in the assembly of Israel!" There is little Benjamin, their ruler, the princes of Judah, their council, the princes of Zebulun, and the princes of Naphtali. Your God has commanded your strength. Strengthen, God, that which you have done for us. Because of your temple at Jerusalem, kings shall bring presents to you. Rebuke the wild animal of the reeds, the multitude of the bulls, with the calves of the peoples. Being humbled, may it bring bars of silver. Scatter the nations that delight in war. Princes shall come out of Egypt. Ethiopia shall hurry to stretch out her hands to God. Sing to God, you kingdoms of the earth! Sing praises to the Lord! Selah. To him who rides on the heaven of heavens, which are of old; behold, he utters his voice, a mighty voice. Ascribe strength to God! His excellency is over Israel, his strength is in the skies. You are awesome, God, in your sanctuaries. The God of Israel gives strength and power to his people. Praise be to God! For the Chief Musician. To the tune of "Lilies." By David.”
“Why do you look with envy, O mountains with many peaks, at the mountain where God has decided to live? Indeed the LORD will live there permanently! God has countless chariots; they number in the thousands. The Lord comes from Sinai in holy splendor. You ascend on high, you have taken many captives. You receive tribute from men, including even sinful rebels. Indeed the LORD God lives there! The Lord deserves praise! Day after day he carries our burden, the God who delivers us.(Selah) Our God is a God who delivers; the LORD, the sovereign Lord, can rescue from death. Indeed God strikes the heads of his enemies, the hairy foreheads of those who persist in rebellion. The Lord says,“I will retrieve them from Bashan, I will bring them back from the depths of the sea, so that your feet may stomp in their blood, and your dogs may eat their portion of the enemies’ corpses.” They see your processions, O God– the processions of my God, my king, who marches along in holy splendor. Singers walk in front; musicians follow playing their stringed instruments, in the midst of young women playing tambourines. In your large assemblies praise God, the LORD, in the assemblies of Israel! There is little Benjamin, their ruler, and the princes of Judah in their robes, along with the princes of Zebulun and the princes of Naphtali. God has decreed that you will be powerful. O God, you who have acted on our behalf, demonstrate your power. Because of your temple in Jerusalem, kings bring tribute to you. Sound your battle cry against the wild beast of the reeds, and the nations that assemble like a herd of calves led by bulls! They humble themselves and offer gold and silver as tribute. God scatters the nations that like to do battle. They come with red cloth from Egypt, Ethiopia voluntarily offers tribute to God. O kingdoms of the earth, sing to God! Sing praises to the Lord,(Selah) to the one who rides through the sky from ancient times! Look! He thunders loudly. Acknowledge God’s power, his sovereignty over Israel, and the power he reveals in the skies! You are awe-inspiring, O God, as you emerge from your holy temple! It is the God of Israel who gives the people power and strength. God deserves praise!”
“Let not the tempest of water drown me, nor the deep water swallow me up: and let not the pit shut her mouth upon me. Hear me, O Lord, for thy mercy is kind; look upon me according to the multitude of thy tender mercies. And turn not away thy face from thy servant: for I am in trouble, hear me speedily. Attend to my soul, and deliver it: save me because of my enemies. Thou knowest my reproach, and my confusion, and my shame. In thy sight are all they that afflict me; my heart hath expected reproach and misery. And I looked for one that would grieve together with me, but there was none: and for one that would comfort me, and I found none. And they gave me gall for my food, and in my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink. Let their table become as a snare before them, and a recompense, and a stumblingblock. Let their eyes be darkened that they see not; and their back bend thou down always. Pour out thy indignation upon them: and let thy wrathful anger take hold of them. Let their habitation be made desolate: and let there be none to dwell in their tabernacles. Because they have persecuted him whom thou hast smitten; and they have added to the grief of my wounds. Add thou iniquity upon their iniquity: and let them not come into thy justice. Let them be blotted out of the book of the living; and with the just let them not be written. But I am poor and sorrowful: thy salvation, O God, hath set me up. I will praise the name of God with a canticle: and I will magnify him with praise. And it shall please God better than a young calf, that bringeth forth horns and hoofs. Let the poor see and rejoice: seek ye God, and your soul shall live. For the Lord hath heard the poor: and hath not despised his prisoners. Let the heavens and the earth praise him; the sea, and every thing that creepeth therein. For God will save Sion, and the cities of Juda shall be built up. And they shall dwell there, and acquire it by inheritance. And the seed of his servants shall possess it; and they that love his name shall dwell therein. ”
“Why are you looking with envy, you high hills, on the hill desired by God as his resting-place? truly, God will make it his house for ever. The war-carriage of God is among Israel's thousands; the Lord has come from Sinai to the holy place. You have gone up on high, taking your prisoners with you; you have taken offerings from men; the Lord God has taken his place on the seat of his power. Praise be to the Lord, who is our support day by day, even the God of our salvation. (Selah.) Our God is for us a God of salvation; his are the ways out of death. The heads of the haters of God will be crushed; even the head of him who still goes on in his evil ways. The Lord said, I will make them come back from Bashan, and from the deep parts of the sea; So that your foot may be red with blood, and the tongues of your dogs with the same. We see your going, O God: even the going of my God, my King, into the holy place. The makers of songs go before, the players of music come after, among the young girls playing on brass instruments. Give praise to God in the great meeting; even the Lord, you who come from the fountain of Israel. There is little Benjamin ruling them, the chiefs of Judah and their army, the rulers of Zebulun and the rulers of Naphtali. O God, send out your strength; the strength, O God, with which you have done great things for us, Out of your Temple in Jerusalem. Say sharp words to the beast among the water-plants, the band of strong ones, with the lords of the peoples, put an end to the people whose delight is in war. Kings will give you offerings, they will come out of Egypt; from Pathros will come offerings of silver; Ethiopia will be stretching out her hands to God. Make songs to God, you kingdoms of the earth; O make songs of praise to the Lord; (Selah.) To him who goes or the clouds of heaven, the heaven which was from earliest times; he sends out his voice of power. Make clear that strength is God's: he is lifted up over Israel, and his power is in the clouds. O God, you are to be feared in your holy place: the God of Israel gives strength and power to his people. Praise be to God.”
