"Behold, they will speak with their mouth, and a sword is in their lips: “For who has heard us?” "
— Psalms 58:8, Catholic Public Domain Version
“As a snail which melteth, let every one of them pass away: like the untimely birth of a woman, that they may not see the sun.”
“Let them beas a snail which melteth and passeth away, Likethe untimely birth of a woman, that hath not seen the sun. ”
“Let them be like a snail which melts and passes away, like the stillborn child, who has not seen the sun.”
“Let them be like a snail that melts away as it moves along! Let them be like stillborn babies that never see the sun!”
“Behold they shall speak with their mouth, and a sword is in their lips: for who, say they, hath heard us?”
“Let them be like an after-birth which is turned to water and comes to an end; like the fruit of a woman who gives birth before her time, let them not see the sun.”
“As a snail which melteth, let every one of them pass away: like the untimely birth of a woman, that they may not see the sun.”
And it is neither my iniquity, nor my sin, O Lord. I have run and gone directly, without iniquity.
Rise up to meet me, and see: even you, O Lord, the God of hosts, the God of Israel. Reach out to visit all nations. Do not take pity on all those who work iniquity.
They will return toward evening, and they will suffer hunger like dogs, and they will wander around the city.
Behold, they will speak with their mouth, and a sword is in their lips: “For who has heard us?”
And you, O Lord, will laugh at them. You will lead all the Gentiles to nothing.
I will guard my strength toward you, for you are God, my supporter.
My God, his mercy will precede me.
