King James Version
Incline not my heart to any evil thing, to practise wicked works with men that work iniquity: and let me not eat of their dainties.
Let the righteous smite me; it shall be a kindness: and let him reprove me; it shall be an excellent oil, which shall not break my head: for yet my prayer also shall be in their calamities.
When their judges are overthrown in stony places, they shall hear my words; for they are sweet.
Our bones are scattered at the grave’s mouth, as when one cutteth and cleaveth wood upon the earth.
But mine eyes are unto thee, O God the Lord: in thee is my trust; leave not my soul destitute.
Keep me from the snares which they have laid for me, and the gins of the workers of iniquity.
Let the wicked fall into their own nets, whilst that I withal escape.
— Psalms 141:4-1953, King James Version
“Incline not my heart to any evil thing, To practise deeds of wickedness With men that work iniquity: And let me not eat of their dainties. Let the righteous smite me, it shall bea kindness; And let him reprove me, it shall be asoil upon the head; Let not my head refuse it: For even in their wickedness shall my prayer continue. Their judges are thrown down by the sides of the rock; And they shall hear my words; for they are sweet. As when one ploweth and cleaveth the earth, Our bones are scattered at the mouth of Sheol. For mine eyes are unto thee, O Jehovah the Lord: In thee do I take refuge; leave not my soul destitute. Keep me from the snare which they have laid for me, And from the gins of the workers of iniquity. Let the wicked fall into their own nets, Whilst that I withal escape. ”
“Don't incline my heart to any evil thing, to practice deeds of wickedness with men who work iniquity. Don't let me eat of their delicacies. Let the righteous strike me, it is kindness; let him reprove me, it is like oil on the head; don't let my head refuse it; Yet my prayer is always against evil deeds. Their judges are thrown down by the sides of the rock. They will hear my words, for they are well spoken. "As when one plows and breaks up the earth, our bones are scattered at the mouth of Sheol." For my eyes are on you, Yahweh, the Lord. In you, I take refuge. Don't leave my soul destitute. Keep me from the snare which they have laid for me, from the traps of the workers of iniquity. Let the wicked fall together into their own nets, while I pass by. A contemplation by David, when he was in the cave. A Prayer.”
“Do not let me have evil desires, or participate in sinful activities with men who behave wickedly. I will not eat their delicacies. May the godly strike me in love and correct me! May my head not refuse choice oil! Indeed, my prayer is a witness against their evil deeds. They will be thrown down the side of a cliff by their judges. They will listen to my words, for they are pleasant. As when one plows and breaks up the soil, so our bones are scattered at the mouth of Sheol. Surely I am looking to you, O Sovereign LORD. In you I take shelter. Do not expose me to danger! Protect me from the snare they have laid for me, and the traps the evildoers have set. Let the wicked fall into their own nets, while I escape.”
“When my spirit failed me, then thou knewest my paths. In this way wherein I walked, they have hidden a snare for me. I looked on my right hand, and beheld, and there was no one that would know me. Flight hath failed me: and there is no one that hath regard to my soul. I cried to thee, O Lord: I said: Thou art my hope, my portion in the land of the living. Attend to my supplication: for I am brought very low. Deliver me from my persecutors; for they are stronger than I. Bring my soul out of prison, that I may praise thy name: the just wait for me, until thou reward me. ”
“Keep my heart from desiring any evil thing, or from taking part in the sins of the evil-doers with men who do wrong: and let me have no part in their good things. Let the upright give me punishment; and let the god-fearing man put me in the right way; but I will not let the oil of sinners come on my head: when they do evil I will give myself to prayer. When destruction comes to their judges by the side of the rock, they will give ear to my words, for they are sweet. Our bones are broken up at the mouth of the underworld, as the earth is broken by the plough. But my eyes are turned to you, O Lord God: my hope is in you; let not my soul be given up to death. Keep me from the net which they have put down for me, and from the designs of the workers of evil. Let the sinners be taken in the nets which they themselves have put down, while I go free.”
“Incline not my heart to any evil thing, to practise wicked works with men that work iniquity: and let me not eat of their dainties. ”
Lord, I cry unto thee: make haste unto me; give ear unto my voice, when I cry unto thee.
Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.
Set a watch, O Lord, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips.
