"For they have destroyed the things that you have completed. But what has the just one done? "
— Psalms 10:4, Catholic Public Domain Version
“The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts.”
“The wicked, in the pride of his countenance, saith, He will not requireit. All his thoughts are, There is no God. ”
“The wicked, in the pride of his face, has no room in his thoughts for God.”
“The wicked man is so arrogant he always thinks,“God won’t hold me accountable; he doesn’t care.””
“For they have destroyed the things which thou hast made: but what has the just man done?”
“The evil-doer in his pride says, God will not make a search. All his thoughts are, There is no God.”
“The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts.”
Unto the end. A Psalm of David.
I trust in the Lord. How can you say to my soul, “Sojourn to the mountain, like a sparrow.”
For behold, the sinners have bent their bow. They have prepared their arrows in the quiver, so as to shoot arrows in the dark at the upright of heart.
For they have destroyed the things that you have completed. But what has the just one done?
The Lord is in his holy temple. The Lord’s throne is in heaven. His eyes look upon the poor. His eyelids question the sons of men.
The Lord questions the just and the impious. Yet he who loves iniquity, hates his own soul.
He will rain down snares upon sinners. Fire and brimstone and windstorms will be the portion of their cup.
