King James Version
Lying lips are abomination to the Lord: but they that deal truly are his delight.
A prudent man concealeth knowledge: but the heart of fools proclaimeth foolishness.
The hand of the diligent shall bear rule: but the slothful shall be under tribute.
Heaviness in the heart of man maketh it stoop: but a good word maketh it glad.
The righteous is more excellent than his neighbour: but the way of the wicked seduceth them.
The slothful man roasteth not that which he took in hunting: but the substance of a diligent man is precious.
In the way of righteousness is life; and in the pathway thereof there is no death.
— Proverbs 12:22-1953, King James Version
“Lying lips are an abomination to Jehovah; But they that deal truly are his delight. A prudent man concealeth knowledge; But the heart of fools proclaimeth foolishness. The hand of the diligent shall bear rule; But the slothful shall be put under taskwork. Heaviness in the heart of a man maketh it stoop; But a good word maketh it glad. The righteous is a guide to his neighbor; But the way of the wicked causeth them to err. The slothful man roasteth not that which he took in hunting; But the precious substance of menis tothe diligent. In the way of righteousness is life; And in the pathway thereof there is no death. ”
“Lying lips are an abomination to Yahweh, but those who do the truth are his delight. A prudent man keeps his knowledge, but the hearts of fools proclaim foolishness. The hands of the diligent ones shall rule, but laziness ends in slave labor. Anxiety in a man's heart weighs it down, but a kind word makes it glad. A righteous person is cautious in friendship, but the way of the wicked leads them astray. The slothful man doesn't roast his game, but the possessions of diligent men are prized. In the way of righteousness is life; in its path there is no death.”
“The LORD abhors a person who lies, but those who deal truthfully are his delight. The shrewd person conceals knowledge, but foolish people proclaim folly. The diligent person will rule, but the slothful will be put to forced labor. Anxiety in a person’s heart weighs him down, but an encouraging word brings him joy. The righteous person is cautious in his friendship, but the way of the wicked leads them astray. The lazy person does not roast his prey, but personal possessions are precious to the diligent. In the path of righteousness there is life, but another path leads to death.”
“Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord: but they that deal faithfully, please him. A cautious man concealeth knowledge: and the heart of fools publisheth folly. The hand of the valiant shall bear rule: but that which is slothful shall be under tribute. Grief in the heart of a man shall bring him low, but with a good word he shall be made glad. He that neglecteth a loss for the sake of a friend, is just: but the way of the wicked shall deceive them. The deceitful man shall not find gain: but the substance of a just man shall be precious gold. In the path of justice is life: but the bye-way leadeth to death. ”
“False lips are hated by the Lord, but those whose acts are true are his delight. A sharp man keeps back his knowledge; but the heart of foolish men makes clear their foolish thoughts. The hand of the ready worker will have authority, but he who is slow in his work will be put to forced work. Care in the heart of a man makes it weighted down, but a good word makes it glad. The upright man is a guide to his neighbour, but the way of evil-doers is a cause of error to them. He who is slow in his work does not go in search of food; but the ready worker gets much wealth. In the road of righteousness is life, but the way of the evil-doer goes to death.”
