American King James Version
"When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he was the more afraid; "
— John 19:8, American King James Version
“When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he was the more afraid;”
“When Pilate therefore heard this saying, he was the more afraid; ”
“When therefore Pilate heard this saying, he was more afraid.”
“When Pilate heard what they said, he was more afraid than ever,”
“When Pilate therefore had heard this saying, he feared the more.”
“When this saying came to Pilate's ears his fear became greater;”
“When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he was the more afraid;”
Then came Jesus forth, wearing the crown of thorns, and the purple robe. And Pilate says to them, Behold the man!
When the chief priests therefore and officers saw him, they cried out, saying, Crucify him, crucify him. Pilate says to them, Take you him, and crucify him: for I find no fault in him.
The Jews answered him, We have a law, and by our law he ought to die, because he made himself the Son of God. ¶
When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he was the more afraid;
And went again into the judgment hall, and says to Jesus, From where are you? But Jesus gave him no answer.
Then says Pilate to him, Speak you not to me? know you not that I have power to crucify you, and have power to release you?
Jesus answered, You could have no power at all against me, except it were given you from above: therefore he that delivered me to you has the greater sin.
