"John answered them,“I baptize with water. Among you stands one whom you do not recognize,"

“John answered them, saying, I baptize with water: but there standeth one among you, whom ye know not;”
“John answered them, saying, I baptize in water: in the midst of you standeth one whom ye know not, ”
“John answered them, "I baptize in water, but among you stands one whom you don't know.”
“John answered them, saying: I baptize with water: but there hath stood one in the midst of you, whom you know not.”
“John's answer was: I give baptism with water; but there is one among you of whom you have no knowledge;”
“John answered them, saying, I baptize with water: but there standeth one among you, whom ye know not;”
John said,“I am the voice of one shouting in the wilderness,‘Make straight the way for the Lord,’ as the prophet Isaiah said.”
(Now they had been sent from the Pharisees.)
So they asked John,“Why then are you baptizing if you are not the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the Prophet?”
John answered them,“I baptize with water. Among you stands one whom you do not recognize,
who is coming after me. I am not worthy to untie the strap of his sandal!”
These things happened in Bethany across the Jordan River where John was baptizing.
On the next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said,“Look, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!
