American King James Version
"Then said they to him, Who are you? that we may give an answer to them that sent us. What say you of yourself? "
— John 1:22, American King James Version
“Then said they unto him, Who art thou? that we may give an answer to them that sent us. What sayest thou of thyself?”
“They said therefore unto him, Who art thou? that we may give an answer to them that sent us. What sayest thou of thyself? ”
“They said therefore to him, "Who are you? Give us an answer to take back to those who sent us. What do you say about yourself?"”
“Then they said to him,“Who are you? Tell us so that we can give an answer to those who sent us. What do you say about yourself?””
“They said therefore unto him: Who art thou, that we may give an answer to them that sent us? What sayest thou of thyself?”
“So they said to him, Who are you then? We have to give some answer to those who sent us. What have you to say about yourself?”
“Then said they unto him, Who art thou? that we may give an answer to them that sent us. What sayest thou of thyself?”
And this is the record of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, Who are you?
And he confessed, and denied not; but confessed, I am not the Christ.
And they asked him, What then? Are you Elias? And he says, I am not. Are you that prophet? And he answered, No.
Then said they to him, Who are you? that we may give an answer to them that sent us. What say you of yourself?
He said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord, as said the prophet Isaiah.
And they which were sent were of the Pharisees.
And they asked him, and said to him, Why baptize you then, if you be not that Christ, nor Elias, neither that prophet?
