No one has ever seen God. The only one, himself God, who is in closest fellowship with the Father, has made God known.
The Testimony of John the Baptist Now this was John’s testimony when the Jewish leaders sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him,“Who are you?”
He confessed– he did not deny but confessed–“I am not the Christ!”
So they asked him,“Then who are you? Are you Elijah?” He said,“I am not!”“Are you the Prophet?” He answered,“No!”
Then they said to him,“Who are you? Tell us so that we can give an answer to those who sent us. What do you say about yourself?”
John said,“I am the voice of one shouting in the wilderness,‘Make straight the way for the Lord,’ as the prophet Isaiah said.”
(Now they had been sent from the Pharisees.)
