— Isaiah 40:6, American King James Version

“The voice of one saying, "Cry!" One said, "What shall I cry?" "All flesh is like grass, and all its glory is like the flower of the field.”
“A voice says,“Cry out!” Another asks,“What should I cry out?” The first voice responds:“All people are like grass, and all their promises are like the flowers in the field.”
“The voice of one, saying: Cry. And I said: What shall I cry? All flesh is grass, and all the glory thereof as the flower of the field.”
“A voice of one saying, Give a cry! And I said, What is my cry to be? All flesh is grass, and all its strength like the flower of the field.”

The voice of him that cries in the wilderness, Prepare you the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.
Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain:
And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the LORD has spoken it.
The voice said, Cry. And he said, What shall I cry? All flesh is grass, and all the goodliness thereof is as the flower of the field:
The grass wither, the flower fades: because the spirit of the LORD blows on it: surely the people is grass.
The grass wither, the flower fades: but the word of our God shall stand for ever. ¶
O Zion, that bring good tidings, get you up into the high mountain; O Jerusalem, that bring good tidings, lift up your voice with strength; lift it up, be not afraid; say to the cities of Judah, Behold your God!
