"Therefore, where is your happiness? For I offer to you testimony that, if it could be done, you would have plucked out your own eyes and would have given them to me. "
— Galatians 4:15, Catholic Public Domain Version
“Where is then the blessedness ye spake of? for I bear you record, that, if it had been possible, ye would have plucked out your own eyes, and have given them to me.”
“Where then is that gratulation of yourselves? for I bear you witness, that, if possible, ye would have plucked out your eyes and given them to me. ”
“What was the blessing you enjoyed? For I testify to you that, if possible, you would have plucked out your eyes and given them to me.”
“Where then is your sense of happiness now? For I testify about you that if it were possible, you would have pulled out your eyes and given them to me!”
“Where is then your blessedness? For I bear you witness that, if it could be done, you would have plucked out your own eyes and would have given them to me.”
“Where then is that happy condition of yours? because I give you witness, that, if possible, you would have taken out your eyes and given them to me.”
“Where is then the blessedness ye spake of? for I bear you record, that, if it had been possible, ye would have plucked out your own eyes, and have given them to me.”
Brothers, I beg you. Be as I am. For I, too, am like you. You have not injured me at all.
But you know that, in the weakness of the flesh, I have preached the Gospel to you for a long time, and that your trials are in my flesh.
You did not despise or reject me. But instead, you accepted me like an Angel of God, even like Christ Jesus.
Therefore, where is your happiness? For I offer to you testimony that, if it could be done, you would have plucked out your own eyes and would have given them to me.
So then, have I become your enemy by telling you the truth?
They are not imitating you well. And they are willing to exclude you, so that you might imitate them.
But be imitators of what is good, always in a good way, and not only when I am present with you.
