American King James Version
"And he could not answer Abner a word again, because he feared him. ¶ "
— 2 Samuel 3:11, American King James Version
“And he could not answer Abner a word again, because he feared him.”
“And he could not answer Abner another word, because he feared him. ”
“He could not answer Abner another word, because he feared him.”
“Ish-bosheth was unable to answer Abner with even a single word because he was afraid of him.”
“And he could not answer him a word, because he feared him.”
“And so great was Ish-bosheth's fear of Abner that he was not able to say a word in answer.”
“And he could not answer Abner a word again, because he feared him.”
Then was Abner very wroth for the words of Ishbosheth, and said, Am I a dog’s head, which against Judah do show kindness this day to the house of Saul your father, to his brothers, and to his friends, and have not delivered you into the hand of David, that you charge me to day with a fault concerning this woman?
So do God to Abner, and more also, except, as the LORD has sworn to David, even so I do to him;
To translate the kingdom from the house of Saul, and to set up the throne of David over Israel and over Judah, from Dan even to Beersheba.
And he could not answer Abner a word again, because he feared him. ¶
And Abner sent messengers to David on his behalf, saying, Whose is the land? saying also, Make your league with me, and, behold, my hand shall be with you, to bring about all Israel to you. ¶
And he said, Well; I will make a league with you: but one thing I require of you, that is, You shall not see my face, except you first bring Michal Saul’s daughter, when you come to see my face.
And David sent messengers to Ishbosheth Saul’s son, saying, Deliver me my wife Michal, which I espoused to me for an hundred foreskins of the Philistines.
