"So then, tongues are a sign not for believers but for unbelievers. Prophecy, however, is not for unbelievers but for believers."
— 1 Corinthians 14:22, NET Bible
“Wherefore tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that believe not: but prophesying serveth not for them that believe not, but for them which believe.”
“Wherefore tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to the unbelieving: but prophesying is for a sign, not to the unbelieving, but to them that believe. ”
“Therefore other languages are for a sign, not to those who believe, but to the unbelieving; but prophesying is for a sign, not to the unbelieving, but to those who believe.”
“Wherefore tongues are for a sign, not to believers but to unbelievers: but prophecies, not to unbelievers but to believers.”
“For this reason tongues are for a sign, not to those who have faith, but to those who have not: but the prophet's word is for those who have faith, and not for the rest who have not.”
“Wherefore tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that believe not: but prophesying serveth not for them that believe not, but for them which believe.”
but in the church I want to speak five words with my mind to instruct others, rather than ten thousand words in a tongue.
Brothers and sisters, do not be children in your thinking. Instead, be infants in evil, but in your thinking be mature.
It is written in the law:“By people with strange tongues and by the lips of strangers I will speak to this people, yet not even in this way will they listen to me,” says the Lord.
So then, tongues are a sign not for believers but for unbelievers. Prophecy, however, is not for unbelievers but for believers.
So if the whole church comes together and all speak in tongues, and unbelievers or uninformed people enter, will they not say that you have lost your minds?
But if all prophesy, and an unbeliever or uninformed person enters, he will be convicted by all, he will be called to account by all.
The secrets of his heart are disclosed, and in this way he will fall down with his face to the ground and worship God, declaring,“God is really among you.”
