“Some of them also were appointed over the furniture, and over all the vessels of the sanctuary, and over the fine flour, and the wine, and the oil, and the frankincense, and the spices. And some of the sons of the priests prepared the confection of the spices. And Mattithiah, one of the Levites, who was the first-born of Shallum the Korahite, had the office of trust over the things that were baked in pans. And some of their brethren, of the sons of the Kohathites, were over the showbread, to prepare it every sabbath. And these are the singers, heads of fathers’housesof the Levites, who dweltin the chambersand were free from other service; for they were employed in their work day and night. These were heads of fathers’ houses of the Levites, throughout their generations, chief men: these dwelt at Jerusalem. And in Gibeon there dwelt the father of Gibeon, Jeiel, whose wife’s name was Maacah; and his first-born son Abdon, and Zur, and Kish, and Baal, and Ner, and Nadab, and Gedor, and Ahio, and Zechariah, and Mikloth. And Mikloth begat Shimeam. And they also dwelt with their brethren in Jerusalem, over against their brethren. And Ner begat Kish; and Kish begat Saul; and Saul begat Jonathan, and Malchishua, and Abinadab, and Eshbaal. And the son of Jonathan was Merib-baal; and Merib-baal begat Micah. And the sons of Micah: Pithon, and Melech, and Tahrea, and Ahaz. And Ahaz begat Jarah; and Jarah begat Alemeth, and Azmaveth, and Zimri; and Zimri begat Moza; and Moza begat Binea; and Rephaiah his son, Eleasah his son, Azel his son. And Azel had six sons, whose names are these: Azrikam, Bocheru, and Ishmael, and Sheariah, and Obadiah, and Hanan: these were the sons of Azel. ”

“Some of them were in charge of the equipment and articles of the sanctuary, as well as the flour, wine, olive oil, incense, and spices. (But some of the priests mixed the spices.) Mattithiah, a Levite, the firstborn son of Shallum the Korahite, was in charge of baking the bread for offerings. Some of the Kohathites, their relatives, were in charge of preparing the bread that is displayed each Sabbath. The musicians and Levite family leaders stayed in rooms at the sanctuary and were exempt from other duties, for day and night they had to carry out their assigned tasks. These were the family leaders of the Levites, as listed in their genealogical records. They lived in Jerusalem. Jeiel’s Descendants Jeiel(the father of Gibeon) lived in Gibeon. His wife was Maacah. His firstborn son was Abdon, followed by Zur, Kish, Baal, Ner, Nadab, Gedor, Ahio, Zechariah, and Mikloth. Mikloth was the father of Shimeam. They also lived near their relatives in Jerusalem. Ner was the father of Kish, and Kish was the father of Saul. Saul was the father of Jonathan, Malki-Shua, Abinadab, and Eshbaal. The son of Jonathan:Meribbaal, who was the father of Micah. The sons of Micah:Pithon, Melech, Tahrea, and Ahaz. Ahaz was the father of Jarah, and Jarah was the father of Alemeth, Azmaveth, and Zimri. Zimri was the father of Moza, and Moza was the father of Binea. His son was Rephaiah, whose son was Eleasah, whose son was Azel. Azel had six sons: Azrikam his firstborn, followed by Ishmael, Sheariah, Obadiah, and Hanan. These were the sons of Azel.”

“Some of them also had the instruments of the sanctuary committed unto them, and the charge of the fine flour, and wine, and oil, and frankincense, and spices. And the sons of the priests made the ointments of the spices. And Mathathias a Levite, the firstborn of Sellum the Corite, was overseer of such things as were fried the fryingpan. And some of the sons of Caath their brethren, were over the loaves of proposition, to prepare always new for every sabbath. These are the chief of the singing men of the families of the Levites, who dwelt in the chambers, by the temple, that they might serve continually day and night in their ministry. The heads of the Levites, princes in their families, abode in Jerusalem. And in Gabaon dwelt Jehiel the father of Gabaon, and the name of his wife was Maacha: His firstborn son Abdon, and Sur, and Cis, and Baal, and Ner, and Nadab, Gedor also, and Ahio, and Zacharias, and Macelloth. And Macelloth begot Samaan: these dwelt over against their brethren in Jerusalem, with their brethren. Now Ner begot Cis: and Cis begot Saul: and Saul begot Jonathan and Melchisua, and Abinadab, and Esbaal. And the son of Jonathan, was Meribbaal: and Meribbaal begot Micha. And the sons of Micha, were Phithon, and Melech, and Tharaa, and Ahaz. And Ahaz begot Jara, and Jara begot Alamath, and Azmoth, and Zamri. And Zamri begot Mosa. And Mosa begot Banaa: whose son Raphaia begot Elasa: of whom was born Asel. And Asel had six sons whose names are, Ezricam Bochru, Ismahel, Saria, Obdia, Hanan: these are the sons of Asel. ”

“And some of them were responsible for the holy things and for the vessels of the holy place, and the meal and the wine and the oil and the perfume and the spices. And some of the sons of the priests were responsible for crushing the spices. And Mattithiah, one of the Levites, the oldest son of Shallum the Korahite, was responsible for cooking the flat cakes. And some of their brothers, sons of the Kohathites, were responsible for the holy bread which was put in order before the Lord, to get it ready every Sabbath. And these were those who had the ordering of the music and songs, heads of families of the Levites, who were living in the rooms, and were free from other work, for their work went on day and night. These were heads of families of the Levites in their generations, chief men; they were living at Jerusalem. And in Gibeon was living the father of Gibeon, Jeiel, whose wife's name was Maacah; And Abdon his oldest son, and Zur and Kish and Baal and Ner and Nadab And Gedor and Ahio and Zechariah and Mikloth Mikloth was the father of Shimeam. They were living with their brothers in Jerusalem opposite their brothers.
