“and Bakbakkar, Heresh, and Galal, and Mattaniah the son of Mica, the son of Zichri, the son of Asaph, and Obadiah the son of Shemaiah, the son of Galal, the son of Jeduthun, and Berechiah the son of Asa, the son of Elkanah, that dwelt in the villages of the Netophathites. And the porters: Shallum, and Akkub, and Talmon, and Ahiman, and their brethren (Shallum was the chief), who hitherto waited in the king’s gate eastward: they were the porters for the camp of the children of Levi. And Shallum the son of Kore, the son of Ebiasaph, the son of Korah, and his brethren, of his father’s house, the Korahites, were over the work of the service, keepers of the thresholds of the tent: and their fathers had been over the camp of Jehovah, keepers of the entry. And Phinehas the son of Eleazar was ruler over them in time past, and Jehovah was with him. Zechariah the son of Meshelemiah was porter of the door of the tent of meeting. All these that were chosen to be porters in the thresholds were two hundred and twelve. These were reckoned by genealogy in their villages, whom David and Samuel the seer did ordain in their office of trust. So they and their children had the oversight of the gates of the house of Jehovah, even the house of the tent, by wards. On the four sides were the porters, toward the east, west, north, and south. And their brethren, in their villages, were to come in every seven days from time to time to be with them: for the four chief porters, who were Levites, were in an office of trust, and were over the chambers and over the treasuries in the house of God. And they lodged round about the house of God, because the charge thereof was upon them; and to them pertained the opening thereof morning by morning. And certain of them had charge of the vessels of service; for by count were these brought in and by count were these taken out. Some of them also were appointed over the furniture, and over all the vessels of the sanctuary, and over the fine flour, and the wine, and the oil, and the frankincense, and the spices. And some of the sons of the priests prepared the confection of the spices. And Mattithiah, one of the Levites, who was the first-born of Shallum the Korahite, had the office of trust over the things that were baked in pans. And some of their brethren, of the sons of the Kohathites, were over the showbread, to prepare it every sabbath. And these are the singers, heads of fathers’housesof the Levites, who dweltin the chambersand were free from other service; for they were employed in their work day and night. These were heads of fathers’ houses of the Levites, throughout their generations, chief men: these dwelt at Jerusalem. And in Gibeon there dwelt the father of Gibeon, Jeiel, whose wife’s name was Maacah; and his first-born son Abdon, and Zur, and Kish, and Baal, and Ner, and Nadab, and Gedor, and Ahio, and Zechariah, and Mikloth. And Mikloth begat Shimeam. And they also dwelt with their brethren in Jerusalem, over against their brethren. And Ahaz begat Jarah; and Jarah begat Alemeth, and Azmaveth, and Zimri; and Zimri begat Moza; and Moza begat Binea; and Rephaiah his son, Eleasah his son, Azel his son. And Azel had six sons, whose names are these: Azrikam, Bocheru, and Ishmael, and Sheariah, and Obadiah, and Hanan: these were the sons of Azel. ”

“Bakbakkar; Heresh; Galal; Mattaniah son of Mika, son of Zikri, son of Asaph; Obadiah son of Shemaiah, son of Galal, son of Jeduthun; and Berechiah son of Asa, son of Elkanah, who lived among the settlements of the Netophathites. The gatekeepers were:Shallum, Akkub, Talmon, Ahiman, and their brothers. Shallum was the leader; he serves to this day at the King’s Gate on the east. These were the gatekeepers from the camp of the descendants of Levi. Shallum son of Kore, son of Ebiasaph, son of Korah, and his relatives from his family(the Korahites) were assigned to guard the entrance to the sanctuary. Their ancestors had guarded the entrance to the LORD’s dwelling place. Phinehas son of Eleazar had been their leader in earlier times, and the LORD was with him. Zechariah son of Meshelemiah was the guard at the entrance to the meeting tent. All those selected to be gatekeepers at the entrances numbered 212. Their names were recorded in the genealogical records of their settlements. David and Samuel the prophet had appointed them to their positions. They and their descendants were assigned to guard the gates of the LORD’s sanctuary(that is, the tabernacle). The gatekeepers were posted on all four sides– east, west, north, and south. Their relatives, who lived in their settlements, came from time to time and served with them for seven-day periods. The four head gatekeepers, who were Levites, were assigned to guard the storerooms and treasuries in God’s sanctuary. They would spend the night in their posts all around God’s sanctuary, for they were assigned to guard it and would open it with the key every morning. Some of them were in charge of the articles used by those who served; they counted them when they brought them in and when they brought them out. Some of them were in charge of the equipment and articles of the sanctuary, as well as the flour, wine, olive oil, incense, and spices. (But some of the priests mixed the spices.) Mattithiah, a Levite, the firstborn son of Shallum the Korahite, was in charge of baking the bread for offerings. Some of the Kohathites, their relatives, were in charge of preparing the bread that is displayed each Sabbath. The musicians and Levite family leaders stayed in rooms at the sanctuary and were exempt from other duties, for day and night they had to carry out their assigned tasks. These were the family leaders of the Levites, as listed in their genealogical records. They lived in Jerusalem. Jeiel’s Descendants Jeiel(the father of Gibeon) lived in Gibeon. His wife was Maacah. His firstborn son was Abdon, followed by Zur, Kish, Baal, Ner, Nadab, Gedor, Ahio, Zechariah, and Mikloth. Mikloth was the father of Shimeam. They also lived near their relatives in Jerusalem. Ner was the father of Kish, and Kish was the father of Saul. Saul was the father of Jonathan, Malki-Shua, Abinadab, and Eshbaal. The son of Jonathan:Meribbaal, who was the father of Micah. The sons of Micah:Pithon, Melech, Tahrea, and Ahaz. Ahaz was the father of Jarah, and Jarah was the father of Alemeth, Azmaveth, and Zimri. Zimri was the father of Moza, and Moza was the father of Binea. His son was Rephaiah, whose son was Eleasah, whose son was Azel. Azel had six sons: Azrikam his firstborn, followed by Ishmael, Sheariah, Obadiah, and Hanan. These were the sons of Azel.”

“And Bacbacar the carpenter, and Galal, and Mathania the son of Micha, the son of Zechri the son of Asaph: And Obdia the son of Semeia, the son of Galal, the son of Idithum: and Barachia the son of Asa, the son of Elcana, who dwelt in the suburbs of Netophati. And the porters were Sellum, and Accub, and Telmon, and Ahiman: and their brother Sellum was the prince, Until that time, in the king's gate eastward, the sons of Levi waited by their turns. But Sellum the son of Core, the son of Abiasaph, the son of Core, with his brethren and his father's house, the Corites were over the works of the service, keepers of the gates of the tabernacle: and their families in turns were keepers of the entrance of the camp of the Lord. And Phinees the son of Eleazar, was their prince before the Lord, And Zacharias the son of Mosollamia, was porter of the gate of the tabernacle of the testimony: All these that were chosen to be porters at the gates, were two hundred and twelve: the they were registered in their proper towns: whom David and Samuel the seer appointed in their trust. As well them as their sons, to keep the gates of the house of the Lord, and the tabernacle by their turns. In four quarters were the porters: that is to say, toward the east, and west, and north, and south. And their brethren dwelt in village, and came upon their sabbath days from time to time. To these four Levites were committed the whole number of the porters, and they were over the chambers, and treasures, of the house of the Lord. And they abode in their watches round about the temple of the Lord: that when it was time, they might open the gates in the morning. And some of their stock had the charge of the vessels for the ministry: for the vessels were both brought in and carried out by number. Some of them also had the instruments of the sanctuary committed unto them, and the charge of the fine flour, and wine, and oil, and frankincense, and spices. And the sons of the priests made the ointments of the spices. And Mathathias a Levite, the firstborn of Sellum the Corite, was overseer of such things as were fried the fryingpan. And some of the sons of Caath their brethren, were over the loaves of proposition, to prepare always new for every sabbath. These are the chief of the singing men of the families of the Levites, who dwelt in the chambers, by the temple, that they might serve continually day and night in their ministry. The heads of the Levites, princes in their families, abode in Jerusalem. And in Gabaon dwelt Jehiel the father of Gabaon, and the name of his wife was Maacha: His firstborn son Abdon, and Sur, and Cis, and Baal, and Ner, and Nadab, Gedor also, and Ahio, and Zacharias, and Macelloth. And Macelloth begot Samaan: these dwelt over against their brethren in Jerusalem, with their brethren. Now Ner begot Cis: and Cis begot Saul: and Saul begot Jonathan and Melchisua, and Abinadab, and Esbaal. And the son of Jonathan, was Meribbaal: and Meribbaal begot Micha. And the sons of Micha, were Phithon, and Melech, and Tharaa, and Ahaz. And Ahaz begot Jara, and Jara begot Alamath, and Azmoth, and Zamri. And Zamri begot Mosa. And Mosa begot Banaa: whose son Raphaia begot Elasa: of whom was born Asel. And Asel had six sons whose names are, Ezricam Bochru, Ismahel, Saria, Obdia, Hanan: these are the sons of Asel. ”

And the door-keepers: Shallum and Akkub and Talmon and Ahiman and their brothers: Shallum was the chief. Up till then they had been at the king's door to the east. They were door-keepers for the tents of the sons of Levi. And Shallum, the son of Kore, the son of Ebiasaph, the son of Korah, and his brothers, of his family, the Korahites, were responsible for everything which had to be done in connection with the order of worship, keepers of the doors of the Tent; their fathers had had the care of the tents of the Lord, being keepers of the doorway. In the past Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, had been ruler over them; may the Lord be with him! Zechariah, the son of Meshelemiah, was keeper of the door of the Tent of meeting. There were two hundred and twelve whose business it was to keep the doorway. These were listed by families in the country places where they were living, whom David and Samuel the seer put in their responsible positions. So they and their sons had the care of the doors of the house of the Lord, the house of the Tent, as watchers. There were keepers of the doors on the four sides, to the east, west, north, and south. And their brothers, in the country places where they were living, were to come in every seven days to be with them from time to time. For the four chief door-keepers, who were Levites, had a special position, looking after the rooms and the store-houses of the house of God. Their sleeping-rooms were round the house of God, for they had the care of it, and were responsible for opening it morning by morning. Certain of them had the care of the vessels used in worship, to keep an account of them when they came in and when they were taken out again. And some of them were responsible for the holy things and for the vessels of the holy place, and the meal and the wine and the oil and the perfume and the spices. And some of the sons of the priests were responsible for crushing the spices. And Mattithiah, one of the Levites, the oldest son of Shallum the Korahite, was responsible for cooking the flat cakes. And some of their brothers, sons of the Kohathites, were responsible for the holy bread which was put in order before the Lord, to get it ready every Sabbath. And these were those who had the ordering of the music and songs, heads of families of the Levites, who were living in the rooms, and were free from other work, for their work went on day and night. These were heads of families of the Levites in their generations, chief men; they were living at Jerusalem. And in Gibeon was living the father of Gibeon, Jeiel, whose wife's name was Maacah; And Abdon his oldest son, and Zur and Kish and Baal and Ner and Nadab And Gedor and Ahio and Zechariah and Mikloth Mikloth was the father of Shimeam. They were living with their brothers in Jerusalem opposite their brothers. And Ner was the father of Kish; and Kish was the father of Saul; and Saul was the father of Jonathan and Malchi-shua and Abinadab and Eshbaal. And the son of Jonathan was Merib-baal; and Merib-baal was the father of Micah. And the sons of Micah: Pithon and Melech and Tahrea and Ahaz. These chief fathers of the Levites were chief throughout their generations; these dwelt at Jerusalem.
