"Otherwise, as it was before, when the Lord struck us because you were not present, so also it might be now, if we do what is illicit.” "
— 1 Chronicles 15:13, Catholic Public Domain Version
“For because ye did it not at the first, the Lord our God made a breach upon us, for that we sought him not after the due order.”
“For because ye bare it not at the first, Jehovah our God made a breach upon us, for that we sought him not according to the ordinance. ”
“For because you didn't carry it at first, Yahweh our God made broke out against us, because we didn't seek him according to the ordinance."”
“The first time you did not carry it; that is why the LORD God attacked us, because we did not ask him about the proper way to carry it.””
“Lest as the Lord at first struck us, because you were not present, the same should now also come to pass, by our doing some thing against the law.”
“For because you did not take it at the first, the Lord our God sent punishment on us, because we did not get directions from him in the right way.”
“For because ye did it not at the first, the Lord our God made a breach upon us, for that we sought him not after the due order.”
From the sons of Uzziel: Amminadab was the leader, and his brothers were one hundred twelve.
And David summoned the priests, Zadok and Abiathar, and the Levites: Uriel, Asaiah, Joel, Shemaiah, Eliel, and Amminadab.
And he said to them: “You who are the leaders of the Levitical families, be sanctified with your brothers, and bring the ark of the Lord God of Israel to the place that has been prepared for it.
Otherwise, as it was before, when the Lord struck us because you were not present, so also it might be now, if we do what is illicit.”
Therefore, the priests and the Levites were sanctified, so that they might carry the ark of the Lord God of Israel.
And the sons of Levi took the ark of God, just as Moses had instructed, in accord with the word of the Lord, upon their shoulders by the bars.
And David spoke to the leaders of the Levites, so that they might appoint, from their brothers, singers with musical instruments, specifically, psalteries, and harps, and cymbals, so that a joyful noise might resound on high.
