American King James Version
"Why we would have come to you, even I Paul, once and again; but Satan hindered us. "
— 1 Thessalonians 2:18, American King James Version
“Wherefore we would have come unto you, even I Paul, once and again; but Satan hindered us.”
“because we would fain have come unto you, I Paul once and again; and Satan hindered us. ”
“because we wanted to come to you--indeed, I, Paul, once and again--but Satan hindered us.”
“For we wanted to come to you(I, Paul, in fact tried again and again) but Satan thwarted us.”
“For we would have come unto you, I Paul indeed, once and again: but Satan hath hindered us.”
“For which reason we made attempts to come to you, even I, Paul, once and again; but Satan kept us from coming.”
“Wherefore we would have come unto you, even I Paul, once and again; but Satan hindered us.”
Who both killed the Lord Jesus, and their own prophets, and have persecuted us; and they please not God, and are contrary to all men:
Forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they might be saved, to fill up their sins always: for the wrath is come on them to the uttermost.
But we, brothers, being taken from you for a short time in presence, not in heart, endeavored the more abundantly to see your face with great desire.
Why we would have come to you, even I Paul, once and again; but Satan hindered us.
For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Are not even you in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming?
For you are our glory and joy.
